What are included for Growatt Whole-home backup solution?

For a typical Growatt Whole-home backup solution for US residential projects, it includes: MIN 3.8~11.4KW XH-US Grid-tie inverter ( V3 ) , APX battery system ( any configuration capacity from 5kWh to 30kWh ) , SYN 200-XH-US 11A (or 13A ). The SYN 200-XH-US have an ATS , a 200A breaker and a smart meter integrated. 13A model has the a generator port integrated.

Does the Growatt MIN inverter and APX battery system can set TOU mode to ensure the system operates at maximum efficiency and peak performance?

You can set the Time-of-Use (TOU) mode based on your local utility's rate policy to ensure the system operates at maximum efficiency.

During the day when solar power is actively generating, it first prioritizes supplying your home loads. Any excess solar generation is then routed to charge the battery system. If the battery is not fully charged during the day, it will force-charge from the grid during the cheapest off-peak hours.

When evening arrives and utility rates spike, the battery enters discharge mode to power the home during high-tariff peak hours. Once the battery drops to your pre-configured Stop SoC (State of Charge), the home seamlessly switches over to draw power from the grid.

This TOU mode maximizes the utilization of both solar energy and low-cost, off-peak grid electricity.

Which batteries are compatible with Growatt MIN XH-US Grid-tie battery inverter?

Because the MIN XH-US inverter is a high-voltage inverter that works voltage window 360~550V, so it can not work with regular 48V low-voltage battery. There are four batteries that are compatible with Growatt MIN XH-US grid-tie inverter. Growatt :
APX high-voltage battery, ARO high-voltage battery;
LG Prime and Enblock battery.
All of them are certified UL9540.

Can new and old Growatt APX battery modules be mixed and used together?

Yes, the Growatt APX battery is a new generation battery with built-in modular energy optimization. The Module level energy optimization can support mix new and old battery modules in one system. You don't need to do any cell balance by manual. That is much flexible to expand APX battery system or replace any low-efficient battery modules in the future.

Can I add new APX battery modules to my existing Growatt APX battery energy storage system to expand the storage capacity?

Yes, you can add new APX battery modules to your existing APX battery storage system according to your application demand at any time. The Growatt APX battery is modular design and with built-in modular energy optimization and support to mix new and old battery modules in one system. The maximum system can up to 30kWh.

Does the Growatt MIN Grid-tie inverter can do zero-export to the grid?

Yes, the MIN Gird-tie invert has several mode, including Self-consumption, Zero Export, ToU and Off-grid. You can set Zero-Export mode, and install a Growatt SM-200 US smart meter with 2 CTs, the PV system will power your home loading priority ,then charge your APX battery system until full charged. The system is zero-export to the grid.

How can I check the version of my MIN 3.8kw~11.4kw grid-tie inverter? V1, V2, or V3?

The Growatt MIN series inverter has 3 versions. If your system is a Grid-tie inverter without backup battery system, they work at the same function. However, you need to know the right versions when you hook battery system. V1, V2 and V3 use different accessories. Please check your inverter S/N number on the nameplate:
- There is an "D" in the S/N number, so it is the V2 version.
- There is an "O" in the S/N number, so it is the V3 version.

What is the difference between Growatt MIN, SPH, SPF, and SPE inverters?

Growatt MIN XH-US models are battery-ready grid-tie storage inverters for high-voltage APX batteries. SPH models are 48V hybrid inverters commonly used with 48V battery storage designs. SPF and SPE models are off-grid inverter for independent 48V battery-based solar systems.

Should I choose a Growatt APX high-voltage battery or a 48V battery?

It depends on the application scenarios. The APX high-voltage batteries is compatible with Growatt MIN Grid-tie inverter to build a high-voltage system, which is more efficient, the battery SOC can reach 90% and suitable for whole-home backup kits, however the battery capacity maximum is 30kWh. Choose 48V batteries for compatible low-voltage 48V hybrid or off-grid inverters such as SPH, SPE, or SPF. The 48V battery SOC is 80%, but you can scale up your battery backup capacity to 320kWh in a system.

What is the difference between Growatt SPF and SPH series inverters?

The Growatt SPF series is off-grid inverter and the SPH series inverter is hybrid inverter and can tie to the grid.

How to choose a right Growatt off-grid inverter? SPF 6000T / 12000T DVM-US MPV off-grid inverter or SPE 6000 / 12000 off-grid inverter?

All of them are off-grid inverter and 120/240v split-phase output.
The SPF 6000 /12000T off-grid inverter is low-frequency with large heavy-duty transformers, which allowing them to handle inductive loads, such as central air conditioners, heat pumps, water pumps and compressors. They only work with the battery storage systems.

The SPE 6000/ 12000 is a high-frequency off-grid inverter and can work normally without battery system.

Do the Growatt SPF / SPE off-grid inverter can work without battery or grid power?

The Growatt SPF 3500~5000 US , SPE 6000 / 12000 120/240v Split-phase off-grid can work normally without battery.

The SPF 3000TL LVM , SPF 6000T / 12000T Split-phase off-gird inverter need to hook battery then can start to work.

Do Growatt systems support 120/240V split-phase homes?

All the Growatt inverters that listed by Self2solar are designed for US 120/240V split-phase applications, including MIN 3.8~11.4KW grid-tie inverter, SPH 10KW /18KW hybrid inverter, SPF / SPE off-grid inverters. These all can support US 120/240V split-phase home loading applications.
